What is the Radical Rest?

Welcome to the information blog post about The Radical Rest!  I need you to help me, to help you achieve your goals, by utilising one of the most underused resources we have access to! Rest and Relaxation!

Relaxation and rest are not often in the same sentence as achievement. Since the beginning of last year and way before that actually, I have often thought “Is there another way to achieve your dreams and desires, other than good old fashioned hard slog?”

Born in the 80’s and growing up in the 90’s, my mind was underpinned by beliefs that you can only achieve your dreams by working extra hard and sacrificing important things, such as sleep!

Then I came across this community focused on positivity, law of attraction, self love and mindfulness. Posts full of information around thoughts and feelings, facing your fears, affirmations,  meditation and of course (one of my most favourite subjects) the subconscious mind…

I started putting these things into practice. I listened to my self talk, I turned my negative thinking into positive and put faith into myself. Overall I slooooowwwed right down and started looking inwards instead of outwards. Rather than being led subconsciously by these unwanted thoughts, I took control of my life again! This led me to this…

Is it possible that you can achieve your dreams and desires in life by slowing down and turning inwards.  In affect, utilising rest and relaxation…? And so was born The Radical Rest….

I will follow and evidence people’s journey’s through my Hypnotherapy practice, providing a welcoming, peaceful and warming environment, conducive to a relaxing and client centred experience.  

I will utilise deep relaxation techniques, alongside other hypnotherapy techniques to help my clients achieve what they have always wanted to in life! Maybe this will be the nudge, guidance or start YOU need to a more fulfilled and autonomous life. 

In my opinion, the western world is very chaotic, fast paced and places a multitude of demands on us, which can only lead to problems in the long term. Unhealthy coping mechanisms, toxic behaviours, self neglect or, stress, anxiety or other unwanted habits. My own personal experience of slowing down, has allowed me to make some really positive steps forward in my life. My hypothesis is; if rest, relaxation and time out activities, are increased, as an act of self care, then individuals would be more equipped and self sufficient to meet their goals and align to their purpose. I think it will produce individuals with effective coping skills, who are determined, focused and confidence to use their own skills and abilities, to lead a life that they WANT to live.

How will I benefit from getting involved?

In The Radical Rest I will be working with you one to one, in a client centred way. Utilising the deep relaxation techniques and tools of Hypnosis to help you achieve your desires!

You will be engaging in your own tailored sessions, to work towards your identified goal and overcome the issue you have presented. We will use developed relaxation Hypnotherapy tools in a package developed by myself, to induce a relaxed state to help you achieve your goal. Therefore, by the end of the study, you will;

  • Be clearer on what you need to do to achieve your goal and have the tools to work towards this.
  • Have had experience of and be able to use deep relaxation techniques outside of therapy, to further your progress.
  • Have made some positive progress towards your end goal.
  • Or you would have achieved your goal within the sessions you attended and have the tools to use to maintain your achievement, without further the need for therapy. 

I will ensure that all my clients have, at least identified their individualised, current needs and be signposted, if necessary.

What is the criteria?

I am looking for a small group of busy working individuals, who feel that they struggle to, rest and relax, in their normal day to day schedule and want to meet an unmet goal, such as; to stop smoking/vaping, manage their weight, address low confidence/self-esteem issues, tackle stress and anxiety, rid a fear or phobia or deal with negative self talk. 

My issue isn’t listed, can I still get involved? 

This list is by no means exhaustive. It just gives you an idea of some of the issues I can work with. During the consultation, we can discuss your issue and take it from there. 

What will it involve?

We will start with the usual 30 minute FREE consultation. This will highlight if Hypnotherapy is suitable for you and if so, discuss your wishes, wants and desires. After this we will agree to a programme and schedule, tailored to and suitable for you. We will then book in dates suitable for both of us.

Each session with me will be 1 hour long and completely focused on you! I’ll design a programme of therapy based on the information you have given me, including specific Hypnotherapy tools. I’ll remain flexible and check in with you at all times, so we are both on the same page.  You are the start and centre of my practice and I am there to aid a positive transformation in your life! 

As part of The Radical Rest I’ll ask you  to fill out a questionnaire related to your therapy with me before we start. And then comes the exciting part! The therapy! Utilising Hypnotherapy techniques to invoke an altered state, where you’ll experience relaxation like never before. After The Radical Rest you will complete the same questionnaire you did before the start, to compare your journey. 

Will it be confidential?

Absolutely! I follow strict GDPR and confidentiality policies for all the clients in my practice. I will talk you through my policies related to my practice whilst under my care. 

When does the The Radical Rest start?

The study begins in July and will run up until your last booked session.

How much will it cost?

As The Radical Rest is an informal study, I am able to offer 4 sessions and your 5th session is free! See original rates. 

How many sessions must I book?

You need to book at least 4 sessions to qualify for the final free session. 

How can I get involved?

Get involved by booking a FREE consultation with me and state that you’d like to get involved in The Radical Rest and we’ll take it from there. 

What if I’d just like some therapy with you?

You do not have to join The Radical Rest. However, the free session will not apply. You can still book a FREE 30 minute consultation with me and follow the usual route into therapy.

What if we’re still in quarantine?

I am working with clients over online platforms such as Zoom and Skype and will continue to do so during lock down. If, however, you live locally and would prefer a face to face appointment and the quarantine has been lifted, this can be arranged.

Will I find out the overall results of The Radical Rest?

Yes you will. I will publish the results, in which you will get a copy either emailed to you or a hard copy sent to your address, dependent on how you have requested them.

I don’t know if I can commit to 5 sessions consistently, can I still get involved? 

I am fair and flexible  and will take everyone’s individual circumstance in to account.  Therapy delivered has better results if it has been consistent and uninterrupted (outside of unavoidable circumstance of course). 

I’m so excited to be able to offer this Radical Rest and it’s a great way to find out about Hypnosis. Maybe you’ve never experienced Hypnosis before and you’re curious to how it works. Or maybe you feel like NOW is the right time to make a positive change in your life. Therapy is for everyone, at any point in their life. Everyone deserves and should have access to some R&R and this opportunity makes that more readily accessible.

    In the past, before I discovered many different relaxing activities, I used to catch myself multiple times avoiding any type of relaxation because of the long to do-list I had to finish so that I could have that feeling of accomplishment. This sounds like a very interesting study, can’t wait for the results!
